Faith Brown

Faith Brown was born Eunice Irene Carroll on the 28th of May 1944 in Olney Street, Walton, Liverpool. She had four brothers and attended St Francis De Sales School, Walton.
She was originally a singer in a vocal group with her brothers before turning her hand to comedy.

Using her talent for mimicry she switched to comedy impressions and became probably best known as a star of the ITV impressions show 'Who Do You Do?' and won a TV Times award for 'Funniest Woman on TV' in 1980.

Her television career had begun with appearances on 'Who Do You Do' in 1975-76 which was an ATV showcase for a generation of impressionists and comics. Also in 1976 she was in 'Ken Dodd's World of Laughter' before she became the resident singer on 'For My Next Trick' on BBC1, alongside Paul Daniels.

She was a regular guest celebrity on TV games shows including 'Celebrity Squares', 'Blankety Blank' and 'Give Us a Clue' as well as guesting on many other shows.
In 1980 she presented 'The Faith Brown Chat Show' in which she used split screen to interview herself as she mimicked well known celebrities. Kate Bush was so fond of the 'conversations' Faith had with her persona that she wrote her a four-page letter of thanks.

Whilst appearing as a guest on the ITV show 'Game For A Laugh' in 1982 she was surprised by Eamon Andrews with his Red Book for her 'This Is Your Life' programme.
She loves stage work and besides being a singer and impressionist possibly her proudest moment was playing silent actress Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard which won her three awards.
