Brothers Of Mine |
The Liverpool-based 'Brothers of Mine' formed originally as a quintet in late 2016 after songwriters Andy Pink (Guitar) and Marc Terry (Percussion) began writing music together. Following some early demos, Chris Marriott (Bass) and John Whittingham (Keys) joined the collective. One night after a long writing session, the lads stumbled upon Sam Westhead (Lead Vocals) singing in a bar on Hope Street. Shortly after this the band wrote, self-recorded, and then announced themselves on the local scene with the release of their debut single, 'The Answer', on the 12th of May 2017, releasing an official video of the track in anticipation. Liverpool Noise said of the single, " 'The Answer' is an upbeat track with folky influences and a catchy hook, which after just one listen gets stuck in your head." After the single's release they worked hard in the studio and played a string of gigs in and around Merseyside showcasing their sound. They then announced their own mini North West tour in May 2017 and there followed continuous tours of the UK and sold out hometown shows. Their pop influenced rock music was played by BBC Introducing and was described as influential and catchy. Quickly becoming a must-see live band, due to their unprecedented stage presence and stadium-ready sound, they continued to make waves throughout the local and national music scenes. Having met through music they held in reverence, with artists such as 'Bad Suns', 'Walk The Moon' and 'Kodaline', it defined a sound that has been described as 'indie pop with balls'.
'First Time' - original line-up |
Their next release 'First Time' was launched with a show at The Zanzibar and displayed a clear mix of folk/rock influences from the off. Sounding a little like a heavier than 'Mumford and Sons' minus the banjo, it had an upbeat but emotional feel throughout.
They were now getting more favourable reviews:-
Emerging North - " They have a BIG future just around the corner, just around the bend."
Liverpool Sound & Vision - " There is something very cool about 'Brothers of Mine', they have a knack, born out successfully in this song with its catchy refrain and dark injected matter of fact swagger, to invade every part of you."

Karl Steel, Cumbria Live said of them - "Echoing bands such as 'Kings of Leon' and 'Mumford & Sons', this promising outfit have been making a big impression with a string of gigs in and around the North West since forming at the tail end of last year. Their upbeat rock 'n' roll style displays folky influences and catchy hooks, that has already seen them tipped for a big future."
In August 2018 a line-up change was announced, "In June, shortly after our performance at Westfield Street Festival we came to a group decision to part ways with Sam and John, and continue as a three piece band for the foreseeable future."
This was followed by a further announcement in December 2018 - "2018 has been a rollercoaster of a year for us and everything has worked out for the best. We have played some great shows including a headline at Hangar 34, and main support slots for the likes of Jordan Allen and 'The Academic', all of this has been monumental for us... BUT...we felt that the right side of the stage was getting a little lonely. So with this being said, please welcome our new lead guitarist, Cal to the brotherhood! The four of us have spent the last few months tucked away in our little band room in Liverpool, building our DIY studio and self recording & producing our debut EP. We're so excited to share the record with you and we will be doing in the new year. Before then, we will be announcing the title of the EP and the track listing in full, so keep your eyes peeled on the page and chuck us a like if you haven't already!"
