Pool Of Sound - SPINN

Liverpool based indie band 'SPINN', formed in 2015, have been causing a stir on the scene since day one. Johnny and Andy met in a geography class when they were 12, with Andy later moving schools and becoming pals with Sean. With rhythm guitar and vocals from Jonathon Quinn, Andy Power on lead guitar and keyboards, Sean McLachlan as bassist and backing vocalist, early drummers George Whitehead and Ethan Doyle were eventually replaced by Brummie Louis O'Reilly in 2017 to complete the current line-up. 'Green Eyes' marked their songwriting debut and was very well received indeed, racking up thousands of plays within days of the release on Soundcloud.

This debut single, 'Green Eyes', kick started their career when they were all either in Uni or College, as well as working a wide range of jobs ranging from Bar work to Dog Walking on the side to make ends meet. Listing artists such as King Krule as a big influence behind their first single, they were also influenced by bands like 'The 1975' for their attitude to music, as well as early 'Arctic Monkeys' with their relatable character and background. The band audibly take cues from 'The Smiths' and 'The Cure', but their influences are vast with Johnny, who likes 'The Drums', claiming they all have some fairly varied musical interests. He said, "Andy listens to these mad shoegaze bands I've never heard of ' while Sean and Louis are into disco and 'U2'."

'Notice Me' on Youtube

On the 11th of February 2017, they joined 'The Sherlocks' on their sold out show at the O2 Academy 2, Liverpool and in October they supported 'Flyte' to a sold out Buyers Club. Flyte’s lead singer Will Taylor stated they were the best they'd had on tour to date. Such kind words can sometimes be treated with suspicion, but in this case they were easy to believe as their final song, 'Notice Me', made the audience do just that. In 2018 the band had a sell out debut UK tour, travelled to Japan for the first time, as well as racking up millions of Spotify plays, all without an album.

SPINN Album

Again, with sold out dates at Liverpool’s O2 Academy and London’s Camden Assembly, the band were booked to play two dates in Ireland in March. So it was only a matter of time before their debut album was released and
They then headed into mainland Europe for dates in Spain and France, before hitting the festival circuit, starting with Sound City in the following May.
