Coming from Preston and formed at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, 'Bandit' is now based in Liverpool. Clawing their way out of the grim 'up North', they are a lively 4-piece indie-rock band with up-beat tunes ready to make the crowd move. Nat Waters, Evan Tate, Josh Pears and Baz Forsythe draw their inspiration from iconic bands such as 'Arctic Monkeys', 'Oasis', 'The Strokes' and 'Cage the Elephant'. Their songs tell tales of nights out, love, loss, and desperation capturing the essence of Saturday night and the hangover of Sunday morning. They have always been very clear as to the sound they wanted their band to have and the end result is almost a 'greatest hits' of UK and American indie-rock. Their small-town frustrations have been allowed to explode out of them since their exposure to the bright lights of the city, their tales of boozy nights out and hangover mornings regularly finding their way into their lyrics.
Dave Monks from BBC Introducing Merseyside chose their debut single 'Waster' for his 'Producers Pick of the Week'.
Peter Guy of Music blog Getintothis says, "Liverpool thrives on rock and rollers – and 'Bandit' are one of the best around. Nat Waters is their secret weapon blending his street beat poetry in sets which owe as much to Ye Cracke as they do Alex Turner. Crunching riffs trade with barnstorming hooks and lyricism aplenty, and having conquered much of Merseyside's live circuit we're expecting a break out year for these swaggering Scousers." Peter Goodbody from the same blog went to see the band perform at District, Liverpool in April 2019 and his review of their performance was this. "So, 'Bandit' kick off the evening by scoring the equaliser to an initially pretty much empty room, but after a couple of tunes their driving indie rock began to draw a bit of attention. First two songs are decent enough, but then we get a pause in proceedings. They finish off with recent single 'Waster' which is a rousing piece of work and as good as anything you'll hear on a rock festival stage this summer. It has the band in full out attack mode from the off and doesn’t let up for three minutes of classy riffage. There have been a few gigs around town for the band recently, but this is the first time we’ve seen 'Bandit'. We'll be back for more."
Head 'Bandit', Nat explains the story, "It's about heartbreak, drugs, and all the bad decisions about being young, reckless and naive. It's about being either hopelessly romantic or stupidly naïve. It's about the moment not the memories, bad friends and good enemies and life remembering me. It's about being in love."
April 2020 saw Clout write, "With a razor sharp sound that begs to be heard live, UK indie rock outfit 'Bandit' continue to cement their place as one of the nations most exciting new artists on their latest single 'Balloons Don’t Make It a Party' while 'I'd Try Anything Twice' hit 100,000 streams in July 2020.
They released their fifth and latest single 'Mean Streak' in May 2020 following 'I’d Try Anything Twice' catapulted them into numerous 'Ones to Watch' lists around the country. It again showcases the poetic lyricism of lead singer Nat Waters who was inspired by a past romantic relationship.
Liverpool thrives on rock and rollers and Bandit currently are one of the best around.
