Pool Of Sound - Decay

Liverpool band 'Decay' were originally a 5-piece band, a new project from the members of former pop punk outfit 'Pine', which saw the band striding confidently away from their early sound and branching out into a more delicately-blended melodic strain of aggressive emo. 'Decay' consist of Daniel Reposar as vocalist, lyricist, songwriter Connor Baugh on lead guitar, Nathan Peloe on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Matthew Pickford on bass guitar and Toby Hacking on drums but also lyricist and songwriter. They became a melodic post hardcore band with a sound echoing the likes of 'Basement' and 'Title Fight'. Forming in 2018 and fueled by grief, regret and loss, the band began writing their debut EP , 'Modern Conversation' together, which discusses the topics of alcoholism, grief, regret and loss; fuelled by the difficult years that lead vocalist Daniel had struggled with.Danny notes, "We all grew up on council estates or just not in the richest of areas." Their hometown of Liverpool is something that's close to their hearts, and a solid grounding in the vibrant local music scene has shaped them into the musicians they are today, as frontman Danny Reposar again explains, "Being surrounded by incredibly talented bands like 'Loathe', 'Antihero' and 'Bitter Youth' pushed us to try and make this record the biggest and best thing to come out of the Liverpool scene to date. Having so many talented friends is always a huge inspiration for us as a band."

Early in 2019 the band signed to Fox Records alongside bands 'Coast to Coast' and 'Layover'. Off the back of releasing this first EP in the summer of 2019, moving into 2020 they recorded and released their debut album, 'Staring At The Sun' consisting of singles, 'Comfortable' and 'Feel Better'. In June 2020 they announced that Connor had been kicked out of the band following an incident.

On the 10th of July 2020 they announced the release of the album via all good digital service providers, with it also available on vinyl via Fox Records. It was recorded over a 3-week period in February, when the band joined Ian Sadler (ROAM, Homebound) to begin piecing it together, drawing in influence from the weighty emo of groups like' Basement', 'Title Fight' and 'Citizen' but adding a colour and shape that can only come from life in the North. The album was a bold step in the band's ascent as it aimed to hold up a mirror to the human condition, embracing both the good and the bad, as vocalist, Danny Reposar explains, "At the time of writing the track we were all going through a lot of troubles and setbacks within our personal lives; death, grievance and heartbreak to name a few. We wanted to write a record that ebbed and flowed in a way that our emotions were at the time of writing. The highest of highs and the lowest of lows. From being uninspired, to a major musical breakthrough, to grieving the loss of a loved one. The record is a reflection of our everyday lives in and out of the band and is something I hope a lot of people resonate with."

2021 and beyond is set to see the band unleash their music to the masses once more. Looking to build on previous support from the likes of 'Dead Press', 'Discovered Magazine' and 'New Noise Mag', 'Decay' are a band on a mission.
