Pool Of Sound - ME & Deboe

Since forming in 2012, 'Me and Deboe' have established a firm place on the live music scene and 2013 saw them support the likes of Miles Kane, headline at NME favourite The Trades Club, and perform at UK festivals such as The Southbank Festival, Liverpool's Threshold, Above the Beaten Track and The Acoustic Festival of Britain, as well as featuring at a music festival in Spain. In 2014 the Chester music duo were celebrating one of their most successful years to date. The band members, Mercy Elise and Sarah Deboe, both established solo performers in their own right, describe their music as 'vibrant, raw, powerful, with a feminine twist'. Sharply observed, frequently witty lyrics are their trademark, moving effortlessly between powerful chords and delicate, percussive riffs to bring a stripped back and distinctly original sound to both their own music and cover versions. A nomination for Musician of the Year in London only confirmed that they were fast becoming established both nationally and internationally having been endorsed by British Capo Company, G7th. Their EP, 'Here They Come', produced by Chester engineer Teige Maddrell, and mastered by Frank Arkwright - himself described as "England’s greatest mastering and remastering engineer for contemporary rock music" - at Abbey Road Studios, London, was released early in 2014 ahead of the duo's summer tour across Canada and America. This included Montreal, New York (notably with a performance at The American Folk Art Museum), Nashville, Memphis and New Orleans, where the artists were invited to take part in a live radio interview. They became a favourite of BBC 6’s Tom Robinson, who said, "There are no tricks here, the duo's driving riffs and sumptuous vocal harmonies effortlessly intertwine to devastating effect." Alan O'Hare, Liverpool etc. says, "Music as impactful as this doesn't come along often.. This music duo have to be seen to be believed." With a growing London following forming, they performed regularly in Shoreditch, Soho, Camden, The Southbank and Earl Court's The Troubadour, to name but a few. The two women have played a huge part in pushing live music in Chester and continue to perform at regular venues throughout the city including appearing at Chester Pride.

At the Bluecoat in 2014, Liverpool music blog, Getintothis said, "on the Garden Stage were all girl duo ME & Deboe, who used only their guitars to produce a unique sound which was fast, playful and percussive." The Threshold Festival in the Baltic triangle in 2015 saw them performing and again Getintothis were there to observe, "ME & Deboe's set soundtracked the whole affair, as their set was one of the hidden highlights of the festival. An entrancing weave of fiery acoustic guitars most furiously plucked, stomping rhythms and a colossal double threat from the pair's intertwining vocals, they strode the line between intensity and intimacy with complete mastery. They even managed to cover 'Jefferson Airplane's', 'Somebody to Love' without being utterly, skull-numbingly trite. Very, very good indeed."

With influences ranging from Kate Bush to Bowie and 'The Beatles', their distinctive percussive sound and harmony are intertwined into a powerhouse performance. Attaching butterfly wings to metal girders. Recorded and produced by Sebastien Allemand, 2020 has seen the release of 4 singles and an endorsement with Danelectro USA. The duo continued to adapt performances with the lockdown series 'Alone Together' and worked on new visual projects and releases for 2021. They ended 2021 with a message on Facebook, " Shout to Ian Prowse for having us open the show, getting us on with him, and everyone at 02 Academy Liverpool for  looking after us this weekend. Top class. Great end to the year."

Original, different and so innovative, these girls bring a whole new dimension to the acoustic duo sound and their song writing is equally as powerful.
