Michelle Butterly was born in Liverpool on the 5th of February 1970 and has three sisters. Her family background and upbringing in Liverpool have contributed to her down-to-earth persona and
relatability, endearing her to fans across the country. After graduating from London's Central School of Speech and Drama she made her first TV appearance as a pregnant woman in 'Pie in the Sky' (1995) and then in 2 episodes of 'Dangerfield' (1996). Following appearances in 'Hetty Wainthropp Investigates' (1996) and 'The Bill' (1997), she played Julie Oldroyd in 10 episodes of 'Soldier Soldier' (1997). However she is probably best recognized for her role as Melanie Dyson
in the long-running British medical drama series 'Casualty' (1999-2001). Her talent
and charisma also earned her notable roles such as Pamela in 'Eyes Down' (2003), Trudy in the fifth series of 'Benidorm' (2012) and for two series as Ms Perin in the BBC2 sitcom 'Beautiful People' (2008-09). She was also the Narrator in 'Modern
Manners'. These characters showcased her ability to adapt to various
genres and roles, making her a valuable asset to the British television
landscape.
Aside from her screen performances, Michelle has an impressive stage career. She has been involved in British theatre productions including 'Betty! A Sort Of Musical', 'A Streetcar Named Desire' and 'Hamlet' (Manchester Royal Exchange); 'The Last Testament Of Lillian Bilocca' (The Guildhall, Hull); 'Blair’s Children' (Cockpit); 'One For The Road' (Royal & Derngate Theatre, Northampton); 'Gaslight' (Theatre Clwyd); 'Road' (Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich); 'Queen Of The Nile' (Hull Truck Theatre); 'I Like Mine With A Kiss' (Bush); 'Ma Vie en Rose' (Young Vic); 'Gone To Earth' (Lyric Hammersmith); 'Laundry Room At The Hotel Madrid' (Gate); 'Noughts And Crosses', 'A New Way To Please You', 'Believe What You Will', 'Speaking Like Magpies', 'A Servant to Two Masters' ( Young Vic/West End), Thomas More (RSC) and for the Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse: 'The Star', 'Hope Place', 'Dead Heavy Fantastic', 'End of the Food Chain' and 'Cuckoo'. The latter contained an all star 'Scouse' cast of Sue Jenkins, Jodie McNee, Emma Harrison and Michelle, to capture the intense relationships between three generations of women and the bonds of a modern family.
Michelle's stage work not only underscores her dynamic capabilities as
an actress but also her dedication to the craft of live performance.

Throughout her career, Michelle has worked alongside various notable actors, including Tameka Empson.
