Pool Of Sound - Seprona

'Seprona' are a 5 piece band from Liverpool formed in 2017 with frontman Daniel Badger on vocals and guitar, Niall Blanchflower on synths/keyboard, Chris Woods on bass ( all from Huyton), Louis Birchall on guitar and Adam Maher on drums. Forming together because of their love of music and playing gigs, the band have a long history together with Dan and Woodsy having met when they were at primary school together and with Niall being in the school next door, the trio became friends and started playing together before performing in a band called 'Fare Evaders'. Louis joined the band while they were all at Uni together and Adam joined shortly thereafter.

Following the initial success of their first two singles, 'Monsters' and 'Trap Door', 'Seprona' embarked upon two mammoth UK tours during 2017, playing upwards of 50 shows up and down the country as well as a number of festival slots in the summer. Their music can take you on a voyage from strikingly splenetic delivery on their heavier tracks, to a chillingly haunting aura on their slower, more serene tracks.

2018 marked an important year for them, beginning by recording their debut EP in Liverpool’s illustrious Parr Street Studios where the likes of 'Coldplay', 'Blossoms', Rhianna and Justin Bieber have all recorded tracks. They released their self-titled debut EP on Friday the 5th of October, following the release of their single 'In The Heat of The Moment', lifted from the EP. After the EP was released the band once again embarked upon a UK-wide tour, playing upwards of 30 dates. The EP was warmly received by fans and national press alike being described as 'Flawless' (AnR Factory). IndieBuddie also described how the EP 'creeps, crawls and glides with energetic indie and musicianship to make you dance, mosh and sway'.

Since 2019 they have travelled to play shows and festivals all over the UK, supporting the likes of 'The Fratellis', Kyle Falconer, 'The Coral', 'The Feeling', 'Pigeon Detectives' and 'Space'. They are usually described as a hybrid between AM era 'Arctic Monkeys' and 'Blossoms' and their singles have been played on major national radio stations and broadcast on television to millions of people. This hip shaking 5 piece, it has been said, 'aren't just your average band, they're something else entirely'. Their longevity means that 'Seprona' are a true 'band of brothers', and have said 'The band is an old friend that lends you his headphones, takes you by the hand, and leads you to a world of memories.' Add this to their impressive airplay on BBC Radio 2, Radio 6 Music, Radio X and broadcast on ITV’s This Morning, you can see why you should catch them sooner than later.

The band followed up the success of the previous year by releasing a new single, 'Lost In The Lonely Hearts' and supported it with another tour. Having had a few warm up shows booked for March they already have a number of prestigious support slots and festival dates planned. A reviewer said 'The Liverpool based powerhouse of melodically blessed musicians have that rare ability to instantaneously arrest you with the first few lines in the first verse'. They then released the follow up, 'Rose Tinted Eyes', which was another barnstorming and contagious tune. Dan said,"Luckily we recorded it before lockdown started otherwise I don’t think we would have been able to follow up our previous single as quickly as we have. We had to organise a few things for it throughout the lockdown and piece some things together, but we were quite lucky that we had prepared ahead." Their first single release of 2021; 'Phone Me Back' is an indie anthem for the Liverpool 5-piece and reached 3000 streams in their first week, It is a hip-shaking exploration into the regretful dangers of arguing whilst drunk with the point-of-view attempting to get someone to call them back. In June 2024 they posted on their Facebook page, "Absolutely beyond excited to share that we're playing alongside Manic Street Preachers and Suede tomorrow on their joint tour as part of the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod.
