A History Of Liverpool Thespians - Lindsey Fawcett

Lindsey Fawcett was born in Liverpool on the 10th of January 1979 and lived there until the age of 6, then moved to Sheffield where she attended Ackworth School, a private day and boarding school located in the village of High Ackworth, near Pontefract, West Yorkshire.

Lindsey's first professional job was playing Bet in Sam Mendes’ production of 'Oliver!' at the London Palladium. She went on to perform in numerous theatre productions including 'The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie', directed by Phyllida Lloyd for The National Theatre and 'A Small Family Business' at Chichester. She toured with the RSC in 'Coriolanus' and 'The Merry Wives of Windsor' and has performed in several radio plays including Agatha Christie's 'Evil Under The Sun' for BBC Radio 4.

Her first TV role was in 'Heartbeat' (1997), playing Tracey Knight in the episode 'In On The Act'. Already working  in theatre, having started out in musical theatre, she then had an interview for the part of Shaz Wylie in 'Bad Girls' (2000-02).

They were looking for someone with short hair and Lindsey had recently had her own cut short and spiky for another part and got the job. She hadn't watched the show before which was now one season old but went on to appear in 33 episodes. Her character lived in Sheffield with her dog Molly, her mum, violent step-dad, and brother. Intending only to get her bullying boss into trouble, she murdered three people by spiking the fresh oysters served where she worked, with the juice of the gone off ones.

It was Lindsey's decision to leave the show when she did as she was finding it difficult to find other work when not working on the show. She went on to do some other interesting work, including an episode of 'Doctors' (2005) and theatre work, but eventually left the industry to go to university and went back to Sheffield where she had settled and lives with her partner. Lindsey went to the University of Sheffield from 2005-2008 studying French and journalism and achieved a first class honours degree.
