Ant Ng, 25, from Southport is part of Merseyside band 'The Kowloons', who have toured around Liverpool and the UK. He.is joined in the band by his twin brother and singer-songwriter Ste, lead guitarist Mason Jones and Bobby Griffiths on bass. The band began to form following a holiday to Spain when Ant and Ste were children. Ant said: "We’ve been writing songs since we were 10 years old. It kind of got rekindled at 12 and we went on holiday." In the holiday villa where they were staying, they discovered a binder “with loads of blag DVDs and CDs.” One of the CDs was a homemade compilation of early 'Beatles' songs which piqued their interest. Ant says, "The biggest challenge was finding like-minded people who shared an interest in music and wanted to make music we wanted to make. With Mason (Jones), we bonded instantly over 'The La’s'. They're are our favourite band and Mason loves them as well. We instantly clicked. Bobby Griffiths is on bass - Chris, his dad, he was in a band called the Real People."

The Kowloons toured with Jamie Webster early in 2024 and prepared to perform at a festival later in the year alongside Bez from the 'Happy Mondays' and Tom Meighan from 'Kasabian'. Although growing up in Southport, playing alongside notorious Liverpool artists from Ellis Murphy and 'The Kairos', to a show opening for 'The Real People' in Hangar 34, Liverpool, they have found having 'scouse' parents has made them partial to that Merseybeat which is ever so popular and Liverpool is a pot of gold when it comes to support.

Liverpool City Centre Music Festival 'Sound City' announced - Introducing 'The Kowloons', a fresh Liverpool band revitalising Britpop with their fusion of jangly harmonies and Northern acoustic garage pop. Formed in 2022 by twin brothers Stephen Ng (vocals) and Anthony Ng (drums), the lineup expanded to include Mason Jones (guitar) and Bobby Griffiths (bass).
'The Kowloons' have quickly established themselves as one to watch in the emerging wave of Merseyside bands. Boasting a powerful songwriting prowess beyond their years, as displayed in the first euphoric single off their debut EP, 'Can We Go Faster?', which is to be followed by the thunderous second track 'Raining (It Don’t Stop)'. RGM reviewed the single, "With 'Raining (It Don’t Stop)'; "The Kowloons have released an unmistakable piece of classic scouse rock. A future anthem that puts The Kowloons firmly on that enviable list of Liverpool bands that matter, yes this track is what the city is all about. Here the band  celebrate the concise, chorus-driven style of Northern hits, featuring thoughtful lyrics inspired by a wealth of film and literature. Their sound is rich and nostalgic, sounding like a lost polaroid from your youth, wrapped up in catchy hooks and melodies. They're on a fast track to success, and their journey is one you won't want to miss."

After posting on their Facebook page on the 21st of February 2025, "A massive thank you to Dave Monks and the BBC Introducing team for giving 'James Dean' it’s first radio play, on the 25th of February 2025", they posted on social media, "A little behind the scene look at 'James Dean'. We’ve been in the studio with Chris Griffiths, a legendary songwriter from 'The Real People' who has produced this track for us. Here he is helping us build harmonies on 'James Dean'. It’s out on Friday!"
